Broadband for Your Business

If you have a small business and work from home on a computer, you should look into a broadband internet connection for your business. Broadband internet connections can not only save you time and money but can also allow you to add many great features that are broadband specific. Here are some tips.

If you have a home office or small business, you should look into broadband internet. There are two main types of broadband internet services; DSL and cable. DSL broadband is sold and serviced through the phone company and delivers fast communications usually from 256KB to about 1.5 MB download speed. Cable is even faster delivering from about 1.5 to 5MB of download speed.

Both services are about the same price ranging from $30 to about $50 depending on where you live and the service provider. Most of the time, many residents or businesses only have access to one type of service or the other, so that is the deciding factor for what they choose.

The great part about having broadband for your business is that you can surf the net and download large files with ease. For instance, it might take you 20 minutes to download a 5 MB file with a dial up connection, where it would only take you a minute on a cable modem.

Another great reason for broadband is that you can add great services such as (VOIP) voice over internet protocol which allows you to make phone calls over the internet. Dial up modems are much to slow. VOIP can save you plenty of money each month on your phone bill. If you have a small home business, you can usually get a tax break for the service that you use for your business. So if you have a small home business, upgrade it with a broadband internet connection.
