Your Logo Speaks a Thousand Words

Close your eyes and think about logos that you associate with products. All of us can name several such products in just a few seconds. The most popular logos for me are the golden arch of McDonalds and the Chevy emblem. Both have stood the test of time, allowed the company's to change with market demands, and stay imprinted in the minds of consumers all over the world. Coming up with a logo for your business can be very difficult. You want it to be original and relative to the type of business you have. You will need to be creative, as well as make sure your logo isn't too similar to that of another product or service on the market.

Where to get a logo
If you have a medium or large sized business, you might be able to have the marketing department come up with several ideas for a logo, with the creator giving a sells pitch for their design. Another good strategy for businesses of all sizes is to have a contest open to all employees. Offering a great prize for the winning logo will entice entries to be more creative and competitive. You may also choose to simply outsource the job, then choose the best logo from what they have to offer you. If you choose to outsource, make sure it is with a reputable company who fully understands the product or goods you sell as well as the goals and mission statement of the business.

Cost increases with complexity
You will want to think about marketing strategies before you make a final decision about your logo. Since businesses spend so much money each year on advertising, do you really want to go with the logo that has three colors? If so, then be prepared for the cost of your letterhead, business cards, etc. to increase because most printers will charge you for each color.

What can the logo be?
Logos can be a symbol, group of symbols, or simply a neat graphic to go beside or underneath your company name. For some logos, the company name is written in unique script, giving it a new twist that works well as a logo for them. Having the right logo for your business can influence sales, and people tend to purchase products from businesses who have a logo that convey a positive message.

Keep it simple
While it sounds silly to mention it, keep your logo simple. It will stay with the consumer longer. Think long term when selecting a logo. You plan to be in business for a very long time. You want to make sure your logo still fits the business 10 or 20 years down the road. That being said, you want your logo to be versatile. Not only to cater to the various markets you will be dealing with now, but the changes that the market will lead your business to over time.

A logo is a visual reminder of your business to the consumer. It offers name recognition and appeal. Consumers like what is familiar to them. The goal of every business is to become so vital to the market that your logo will be associated with quality products or services.

Looking for a great way to sell your car? Sell your car fast and easy online. With so many people going online to purchase items, it is no wonder that the internet can be the perfect place to buy a car. Several years ago, the newspaper was probably the best place to find private sales of cars, but with the internet, you can post pictures of your car and a much more in depth description. Many people have found that selling your car online is the best for both the buyer and seller. Here are some tips.

There are many places to sell your car online. One of the most popular places is Ebay motors. Ebay motors is a great place to find lots of traffic to sell your car, truck or motorcycle. With Ebay motors you can post plenty of pictures, write a full featured description and let the world know where you are selling your car from. Believe it or not, many people that live in smaller suburbs or towns still find plenty of people willing to bid on your car and then come and pick it up.

No Budget? No Problem: How to Market Your Business on a Shoestring

All of us in the business world understand the importance of marketing. It is a strategy to get your product or service known to a target market. It is done in an effort to increase sales and generate revenue. However, many small businesses get caught in a catch 22. They don't have money to advertise and market their business, so they aren't able to generate more sales and revenue. Since they aren't able to increase revenue, they continue not to have money to invest in marketing strategies. Yet consumers can't purchase products they don't know about.

Don't let the myth that big budget marketing strategies are going to generate more business. The focus should be on the quality of the advertising rather than the cost of it. While having a limited budget for marketing can be intimidating, you can still make it work for your business if you have a plan.

Creative marketing
There are creative ways to market your business on a very tight budget. Setting up a website is relatively easy and fast to complete. This is a great place to start advertising your business with very little investment. Create an electronic newsletter to share information with former, current, and potential customers. Create a blog, and write on it daily. You should write articles about your business and post them online in article directories. Make sure to include links back to your own website. The number of people this sort of advertising on the internet can reach is phenomenal.

Keep in touch with email
Make sure you have an email account set up for those who want more information on your product or have particular questions. This email needs to be checked several times daily. Potential customers may lose interest in your product if they don't get a prompt reply to their email.

The power of word of mouth advertising
Word of mouth is also a great marketing method. While it doesn't reach as many people as quickly as other advertising methods, it costs you absolutely nothing. Low budgeting for marketing doesn't have to mean low impact if you are able to reach the target market.

If possible, consider taking out marketing in trade. It might be possible for you to get a reputable marketing company to represent your business. In return, you will provide that marketing company with goods or services from your business. No money will be exchanged.

Networking
Another great idea is to network as much as possible. Business cards are a very inexpensive way of marketing your business. Attend trade shows and conferences where individuals who are in the market for your product will attend. It might also be a good idea to look into setting up booths as these trade shows to further promote your business.

Take whatever funding you possibly can and put it into fast marketing prospects that will generate some customers for your business. These strategies include a radio ad, a unique brochure, or a business newsletter. Since the average consumer needs to hear and ad seven times before they make a decision to make a purchase. Using multiple marketing avenues will also help you to reach more people.

Crafting Newsletter Content that Customers Read

Newsletters are a great way to reach out to your current customers as well as attract the attention of potential customers. However, if customers aren't reading the newsletter, then the effort and investment are wasted. The focus needs to be on designing a newsletter with content that your customers will read. It needs to be informative, eye catching, hold their interest, and leave them wanting more. They will then be eagerly awaiting the next issue of your newsletter.

Creating informative and readable content
Content is very when it comes to capturing an audience to read your newsletter. Take a moment to see things from the customer's point of view. Ask yourself why they should read your newsletter, why will they want to read the next issue, and what makes your newsletter unique and better than that of your competitors. Answering these questions honestly will help you create a newsletter that customers will want to read.

Consumers enjoy newsletters with content that is informative but also energizing. They don't want to be bogged down with lots of technical jargon. They want honest, straightforward information that allows they to be educated and to form their own opinions on issues. You can continue to hold the consumers interest by publishing helpful tips in your newsletter that relate to the areas of expertise of your business.

This makes your company appear to be credible and helpful. Offering customers the opportunity to submit questions that you answer in your newsletter is a great way of letting customers know you care about what they think as well as helping them develop a sense of being a part of the newsletter. You may also want to consider adding a section regarding customer comments and suggestions. This additional outreach to customers will be well received.

Maximize your contents value
To ensure your newsletter reaches the maximum number of people possible, mail a copy to your former, current, and potential customers. Keep extra copies of current issues in your lobby or waiting room. Many people who come in will look through available materials while they wait. Place a stack of newsletters next to the reception desk, payment desk, anywhere a customer might see it and decide to take one. If your company has a website, have the current edition of the newsletter available. It is also a good idea to have previous issues archived on your website as well.

While it may seem expensive to send newsletters to that many people, think of the revenue it will generate in sales. The more exposure your business gets, the more sales are expected to increase. Keep an eye on these marketing areas. If you need to make changes, you can make informed decisions based on who is responding to your newsletters.

Newsletters are an innovative way to reach more consumers than regular advertising. It is also cheaper. You can identify your target market, and create your newsletter to be appealing to that demographic group. Keeping your newsletter friendly, informative, and written in plain English will lead to loyal readers and likely an increase in customers.

Selling Your Business

Selling your business is a big decision, especially considering that you have most likely spent a large amount of your time, money, and energy building it in the first place. So once you decide to sell your business, then you have to start looking at the process of doing so. How much is your business worth? Who would possibly be interested in buying it? These are all questions you must address when you decide to sell. It seems like it could be a daunting process, and rightfully so, as you are selling what you worked so hard for. However, if you follow a few simple steps, you will cut out as much stress possible.

First, you have to ask yourself "Are you really ready to sell your business?" You will have to evaluate not only your business, but yourself as well. You should look at the reason you are thinking about selling it. Is it legitimate? Once you sell with you wish that you did not? Make sure that you are really ready to sell before you go any further.

After deciding that you are ready and willing to sale your business for the right reasons, you must then ask yourself if your business is ready to be sold. You will need to collect quite a bit of information, including tax statements, inventory sheets, profit and loss statements, information on monetary situations (bank loans, outside investors, etc), and all documents relating to your location and lease. A potential buyer will not only want to see this information, but they will also want to see the most up to date information available. If you are like most business owners, our paperwork may or may not be complete and as up to date as you would like it to be. You will have to take the time to update this information as much as possible.

Next, how much is your business worth? It is important to remember that what you think your business is worth, or what your friends or family thinks your business is worth may not necessarily match what the market says your business is worth. Following the market worth will ensure that you sale your business much faster then if you go by what you feel is correct. Appearance is of importance, so this may also be the time to replace anything within your business that may sway a potential buyer.

Never take a good business, satisfied customers, or good employees for granted. These will be major selling points as well.

Once your business is ready to be sold, you then have to consider who may be a potential buyer. You will have to research what kind of people who be interested and market from there.

So after you start marketing the sale of your business, you will begin to get potentially interested buyers. This is when all the information and paperwork comes in handy. They will review everything you provide, and may even visit your location. This is why it is important to keep your business up to it's highest potential. Some business owners have a tendency to start dropping off from their business once they put it up for sale. Keep your regular business hours, inventory up, etc. Once they decide that they are interested, the majority of buyers will give you're a bid in writing. When you first look at the bid, you may like what you see, but chances are there will be stipulations or situations within it that you do not necessarily agree with. In this case, you will need to discuss and haggle with the potential buyer until you all come to an agreement that will work for both of you. If you cannot come to an agreement that you like, don't sweat it, you will get more offers, it just takes time and patience. On average it takes about 5 to 8 months to sell a small business.

Diversify

If you are an entrepreneur it is extremely important that you never focus on one business, but always diversify. Many people put all their eggs in one basket and this can sometimes have devastating consequences. While most people that are starting out in a business focus on only one business, as time goes by, you should always consider spreading your business and investments around.

For small auction site merchants or ecommerce web developers, you should never focus on one product or one web site. While it is important to build long term web sites and offer a great selection of items in a specific category, Web sites and items sold on auction sites can suddenly change for the worse with almost not warning..

Web sites are extremely fickle due to the search engines that can rank a web site very high one week and very low the next. There are plenty of people that think their web site will continue to make money forever, until they find out the following week that their web site was ranked lower or worse- deindexed. So if you are looking for a steady stream of income for the long term, it is important to diversify your business and investments.
